DIY Ingin Jadi Tujuan Utama Pendidikan di Asia Tenggara Terbit pada 2 Februari 2011 - 13:57 WIB | Berita Pendidikan | Dibaca : 60 kali YOGYAKARTA, (Tubas) – Yogyakarta selama ini memang sudah dikenal sebagai Kota Pendidikan. Tapi Pemerintah Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) tampaknya tak ingin puas dengan sebatas sebutan sebagai Kota Pendidikan yang disandang sejak awal kemerdekaan hingga kini tersebut. Pemprov DIY ingin lebih dari itu, yakni menginginkan agar Yogyakarta menjadi tujuan utama pendidikan di kawasan Asia Tenggara. Pemprov DIY tidak sedang berwacana, tapi benar-benar ingin mewujudkan tekad menjadikan Yogyakarta sebagai kiblat pendidikan di Asia Tenggara tersebut. Langkah awal untuk mewujudkan tekad itu, Pemprov DIY akhir Januari lalu telah menyerahkan Rencana Peraturan Daerah (Raperda) Pengelolaan dan Penyelenggaraan Pendidikan kepada DPRD DIY. Raperda tersebut diserahkan bersamaan dengan Raperda Tata Nilai Budaya. Wakil Gubernur DIY, Sri Paku Alam IX, di depan sidang paripurna DPRD DIY akhir Januari lalu mengatakan, untuk mewujudkan Provinsi DIY sebagai penyelenggaran pendidikan terkemuka di kawasan Asia Tenggara diperlukan konsep pendidikan yang merupakan proses penguatan jati diri dan watak masyarakat yang berkarakter. “Selain itu juga mampu mengembangkan kebudayaan dalam kehidupan sekarang dan masa datang,” tegasnya. Untuk itu, menurut Sri Paku Alam IX, keinginan atau tekad untuk menjadikan DIY sebagai pusat pendidikan berbasis budaya harus didukung oleh semua pihak. “Jika hal itu terwujud, DIY tidak hanya menjadi tujuan wisata alam dan sejarah, tetapi juga orientasi pendidikan dan sumber daya alam yang mendunia,” tambahnya. Sri Paku Alam IX juga menyatakan, kualitas manusia yang bisa menghadapi persaingan global bisa diwujudkan oleh pendidikan yang berkualitas dan memenuhi standar kualitas dan kompetensi sesuai dengan tuntutan zaman sekarang ini.*** Copyright © 2011 TubasMedia.com
