4 teacher competencies

    4 competence of teachers and lecturers in accordance with the Law on Teachers and Lecturers.<data: post.body />
a. Pedagogic CompetenciesPedagogic competencies include understanding of teachers to learners, design and implementation of learning, evaluation of learning outcomes, and development of learners to actualize the various potentials it has. In detail each subcompetence is translated into the following essential indicators;• Understand deep learners to have essential indicators: understand learners by utilizing the principles of cognitive development; understand learners by utilizing the principles of personality; and identify the initial learning of the learner.• Designing lessons, including understanding the educational foundation for learning purposes has essential indicators: understanding the educational foundation; apply learning and learning theories; determine learning strategies based on the characteristics of learners, the competencies to be achieved, and teaching materials; as well as drawing up a learning plan based on the chosen strategy.• Implementing learning has essential indicators: setting the learning setting; and conducting conducive learning.• Designing and implementing learning evaluations have essential indicators: designing and executing continuous evaluation of processes and learning outcomes with a variety of methods; analyzing the results of process evaluation and learning outcomes to determine the mastery learning level; and utilize the results of the assessment of learning to improve the quality of the general learning program.• Develop learners to actualize their potential, have essential indicators: facilitate learners for the development of various academic potentials; and facilitate learners to develop various non-academic potentials.


b. Personality CompetenceIt is a personal ability that reflects a steady, stable, mature, wise, and authoritative personality, a role model for learners, and noble character. In detail the subcompetence can be described as follows:• A stable and stable personality has an essential indicator: acting in accordance with legal norms; acting in accordance with social norms; proud as a teacher; and has consistency in acting in accordance with the norm.• Mature personality has an essential indicator: showing independence in acting as an educator and having a work ethic as a teacher.• A wise personality has essential indicators: displays actions based on the benefit of learners, schools, and the community and shows openness in thinking and acting.• Authoritative personality has an essential indicator: has behavior that positively affects the learner and has a respected behavior.• Noble character and can be an example of having essential indicators: acting in accordance with religious norms (faith and piety, honest, sincere, helpful), and having exemplary behaviors of learners.
c. Social CompetenceIt is the ability of teachers to communicate and get along effectively with learners, fellow educators, education personnel, parents / guardians of learners, and the surrounding community. This competency has subcompetences with the following essential indicators:• Be able to communicate and get along effectively with learners having essential indicators: communicating effectively with learners.• Be able to communicate and get along effectively with fellow educators and education personnel.• Be able to communicate and get along effectively with parents / guardians of learners and the surrounding community.


 d. Professional CompetenceIs a mastery of learning materials in a broad and deep, which includes the mastery of curriculum material subjects in schools and scientific substances that overshadow the material, and the mastery of the structure and methodology of science. Each subcompetence has the following essential indicators:• Mastering the scientific substance associated with the field of study has an essential indicator: understanding the teaching materials present in the school curriculum; understand the structures, concepts and methods of scholarship that are sheltered or coherent with teaching materials; understanding the conceptual relationship between related subjects; and apply the concepts of science in everyday life.• Mastering the structure and methods of science have essential indicators master the steps of research and critical study to deepen the knowledge / subject matter.
The four competencies mentioned above are holistic and integrative in teacher performance. Therefore, the whole figure of teacher competence includes (a) the introduction of learners in depth; (b) the mastery of both disciplinary content and teaching materials in the school curriculum; (c) the provision of educational learning which includes the planning and implementation of learning, evaluation of processes and learning outcomes, and follow-up for improvement and enrichment; and (d) continuous development of personality and professionalism. Teachers who have the competence will be able to perform their duties professionally (Ngainun Naim, 2009: 60).<data: post.body />
